Who should register

This course is designed for health care practitioners who want to enhance their expertise and clinical skills of desiring a greater role in providing medication therapy management services to patients with CKD, including those receiving dialysis.

 

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the epidemiology and staging of chronic kidney disease (CKD) as it relates to opportunities for identification of and strategies to prevent progression of CKD
  • Describe the anatomy and physiology of the kidney and relate that knowledge to development of comorbidities such as anemia, hypertension and bone and mineral metabolism disorders as well as medication management strategies in CKD
  • Apply pharmacokinetic principles in order to prevent medication-related problems and to optimize medication management in CKD patients in both hospital and ambulatory settings

Continuing Education

CE completion requirements:

  • Participants must complete course content and exams/quizzes (passing at 70%), optional assignments.
  • Following successful completion of the course requirements and an evaluation, a statement of credit will be mailed to participants within four weeks.

Accreditation

ACPE logoThe University of Minnesota, College of Pharmacy is approved by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of Continuing Education. Approved for 10 hours of CE credit. Following successful completion (70%) of exams and completion of the program evaluation, statements will be mailed to participants within four weeks of the last day of the course. Program Design

Learning materials are organized into modules. Content modules consist of various instructional materials, including: presentations, handouts, self-evaluation questions and assignments. Participants will be required to pass (70%) a quiz at the end of the section.

Participants can log in and access the learning materials 24 hours/day-7 days/week, at their convenience during the course offering.
